Senate Deputy Leader Gianaris Announces 2022 Re-Election Campaign, Supported By Broad Coalition Of Progressive Activists, Community Leaders, And Organized Labor

Gianaris, running in new 12th Senate district, highlights record of protecting tenants, fully funding schools, safeguarding reproductive healthcare, and defeating fossil fuel  plant

ASTORIA, N.Y. – Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris announced his campaign for re-election in the new 12th state Senate district.

“Working with our communities, we have made incredible progress – including strong tenant laws, fully funding our schools, protecting Roe vs. Wade in our state, and stopping another toxic fossil fuel plant from setting up shop on the East River waterfront,” said Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris. “While we have achieved great success, there is more work to do – and I am eager to continue this fight together with my community. I am humbled and honored to seek another term in the State Senate with their support.”

Senator Gianaris serves as Deputy Leader of the New York State Senate where he represents the 12th District. In addition to establishing the strongest tenant protection laws in history, fully funding New York’s schools, codifying Roe vs. Wade, and stopping the NRG power plant, he has wrote the law establishing nation-leading workplace safety laws during Covid-19 and was instrumental in granting small businesses $1 billion in pandemic relief funds.
